Hope for the Future Youth Challenge Cup
HOPE FOR THE FUTURE YOUTH CHALLENGE CUP

Do you think your youth group has got what it takes to serve the poor? Well prove it by entering the Hope for the Future Youth Challenge Cup

Over the year, youth groups starting on Long Island and also open to groups across America, or even any other country, are invited to take part in the challenge.

Have Pastor Diane come to your church to present the cup to the winning team (subject to availability).


The challenge runs for the calendar year (January to December).

Certificates will be awarded to all teams completing the challenge. Those teams that reach an exceptional standard will be awarded special certificates:

  • Gold - 28 to 30 Points
  • Silver - 25 to 27 Points
  • Bronze - 21 to 24 Points

The challenge is made up of 3 parts. All parts must be completed. Up to 10 points are awarded for completion of each part. In the case of a tie, the team that raised the most amount of money per person, will win the prize.

Part I - Fund Raising for Hope for the Future.
Challenge Points Awarded
Most original sponsored event Up to 5 points will be awarded, depending on how original the idea is.
Amount raised per person Points are awarded on the average amount raised per person in the group. As it is per person, small groups will have the same chance as large groups.
  • $1 to $20 - 1 Point
  • $21 to $50 - 2 Points
  • $51 to $100 - 3 Points
  • $101 to $150 - 4 Points
  • $151 or more - 5 Points

Part II - Street Drama. To be performed at an agreed time during a Hope for the future outreach.

Who wrote the sketch?
  • Taken from book - 1 Point
  • Youth Leader - 2 Points
  • Youth Group - 3 Points
Was it fun to watch? Up to 3 points available if the the sketch was entertaining to watch
Did it share the gospel? Bonus 2 points available if the sketch shared the gospel
Did it teach the church? Bonus 2 points available if the sketch included teaching that was helpfull or challenging to members of the church with no walls.

Part III - Ministry Service. This part is performed at the Hope for the Future warehouse in Farmingdale. In case of group being too large for one challenge, group should split team between challenges and points will be awarded for each challenge, then the average score awarded.
Challenge Max People Points Awarded
Clean 3 Vans 5 People The ministry uses 3 vans. Carrying food around, and doing thousands of miles a year, they get to be a mess very quickly. Points will be awarded as follows:
  • Outside bodywork & wheels - 3 Points
  • Drivers area & back seats - 3 Points
  • Food carrying area - 4 Points
Unload a Delivery 5 People Points will be awarded as follows:
  • Unloading delivery van - 3 Points
  • Cleaning and crating produce - 4 Points
  • Accurate labelling of crates - 3 Points
Kitchen Cleaning 3 People We are legally required to produce our meals in a clean and safe environment. This protects the people we serve. Points will be awarded as follows:
  • Tidiness of kitchen, including all items in the correct place and emptying of garbage - 2 Points
  • All items washed and stored in correct location - 3 Points
  • All work surfaces cleaned with correct materials - 3 Points
  • Floors cleaned with correct materials - 2 Points
Office Cleaning 3 People The ministry has 3 offices, 4 rest rooms, 1 entrance. All these rooms need to be cleaned and look presentable to visitors, as well as allowing Pastor Diane and volunteers to work efficiently. Points will be awarded as follows:
  • Desks cleaned and left tidy, leaving all paperwork in the way it was found, garbage emptied - 3 Points
  • Floors vacuumed - 2 Points
  • Restrooms cleaned including mopping floors and garbage emptied
    - 3 Points
  • Entrance tidied, garbage emptied and room made as inviting as possible
    - 2 Points
